"Clearing the Light"!
The "Lantern Room"! The "Lantern Room" of the Lorain Lighthouse originally housed a 4th Order Fresnel Lens when it was built in 1917, which had a rotating beam that was visible from 15 miles. Today it houses a "Red" Navigational Beacon . After the light was decomisioned in 1965, the Coast Guard stored the lens and eventually loaned it to the Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse Museum in New York. The local Lighthouse Foundation is hoping to have the lens returned someday.
